Marland Davis Palmer, Jr., 57, Maud resident died Sunday, March 24, 2013 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Marland was born on December 10, 1955 in Perryton, Texas to Marland Davis Palmer, Sr. and Mary Alma (Collins) Palmer. Marland attended and graduated from Bowlegs High School and then went on to Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Sayre, Oklahoma where he obtained a degree as an X-ray Technician. After graduation he went to work for Seminole Municipal Hospital as an X-ray Tech. Later he owned his own trucking company and hauled grain and cattle for many years. From 2003 to 2009 he worked at Stewart Wholesale in Earlsboro, Oklahoma. Marland was a member of the “ Faith Riders”, a Christian Motorcycle Ministry. He was also a member of the Peoples Church in Maud, Oklahoma. He started his walk with Christ in April of 2008 and was baptized in a farm pond in June 2008. Marland served his county and state in the Oklahoma Army National Guard for many years and was a part of the Wewoka Unit. Marland loved music, hunting, fishing and camping, but his great passion during his life was riding his motorcycle. Marland is survived by his wife, Dianna Lee (Jordon) Palmer of the home, whom he had been with since September 2003. He is also survived by a son David Dewayne Palmer of Yuma, Arizona, two step-daughters Lucrecia Reagan of Maud, Oklahoma and Dawnya Reese of Asher, Oklahoma, his father-in-law and mother-in-law Glendon Garner and Margaret Garner of Maud, Oklahoma, his sister Mary Gee of Prague, Oklahoma, a brother-in-law Geoffrey Garner of Maud, Oklahoma and half-sister Donna Lou Harrington of Lacey, Washington, one niece, five nephews, and six step-grandchildren survive him. Also one uncle, James Yeager who assisted with his care during his long battle also survives him. His father Marland Davis Palmer, Sr. in 1993 and his mother Mary Palmer on February 24, 2013 preceded him in death. There will be a memorial service for Marland at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel; at 4:00 P.M., Thursday, March 28, 2013, this will also include a memorial service for his mother, Mary Palmer who died one month earlier. The family will celebrate both of their lives during this combined service. Rev. Glen Pence will officiate. Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole, Oklahoma is in charge of arrangements.
