Mark Lawrence Ryan

Mark Lawrence Ryan, 63, longtime Seminole resident, passed from this life on Friday, February 17, 2017, at his home in Seminole.  Mark was born on September 14, 1953 in El Paso, Texas to James Lawrence Ryan and Mary Jane (Duren) Ryan. Mark moved to Seminole 26 years ago from Horizon City, Texas. Mark worked for Wrangler since 1972 and was still employed there at the time of his death, holding numerous maintenance positions over his 45 year career. During his tenure with Wrangler, he lived in Yuma, Arizona, Alamogordo, New Mexico, Horizon City, Texas and moved to Seminole in 1991. Mark was an avid fisherman, golfer and hunter and did all of these until his health prevented him.  He was a longtime active member of the Seminole Bass Club, former member of Ducks Unlimited and was a Volunteer Fireman when he lived in Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. He was a man that could fix anything mechanical; the family remembers him as someone that was the best handyman ever. He married Sherry Ann Locke Ryan on October 23, 1995 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mark is survived by his wife Sherry of Seminole, Oklahoma; two daughters Lisa Bristol and her husband Matt of Newalla, Oklahoma and Alyssa Colbert and her husband Colton of Ada, Oklahoma; four brothers Joe Ryan and his wife Denise of Kyle, Texas, Seth Ryan of Johnson City, Texas, Mike Ryan and his wife Patti of Durant, Oklahoma and David Ryan of Jacksonville, Florida and four grandchildren; Nicholas Bristol, Meghan Bristol, Blakely Colbert and Brittley Colbert. He was preceded in death by his parents Jim and Jane Ryan and brother Paul Ryan. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M., Friday February 24, 2017 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, with Bret Ellard officiating. Burial will be at 3:00 P.M., Friday at the Linn Cemetery, near Madill, Oklahoma.  There will be a family visitation on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at the Funeral Home Chapel from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Casket bearers will be members of the Seminole Bass Club; Buster Wilcox, Denny Ollis, Mike Bowman, Glenn Dennis, John Henson, J.D. Wilcox, Danny McSperitt, Matt Gates, Dwayne Goodnight, Stacy Sigman, Herb Gunter  and Bill Davidson. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Mark’s name to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, 825 NE 13th Street, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma  73104-9930.
