Marion Gene Purkey, 62 year old, Tulsa, Oklahoma resident, and former Holdenville resident passed from this life on March 6, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born August 3, 1953 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to parents, Marion Hamelton Purkey and Winnie Jean (Dewberry) Purkey. Marion graduated from Holdenville High School in 1971. On June 6, 1977 he married Sheila Dawn Carter in Seminole, Oklahoma. Marion and his father owned and operated Purkey’s Glass in Holdenville, Oklahoma for many years. He owned and operated Purkey Enterprises as a property manager. Marion loved to read, work with his hands, British comedies and ministering to others about Jesus. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren and had a special relationship with each of them. Marion was a member of the Walnut Grove Church in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Mr. Purkey is survived by his wife Sheila Purkey of Tulsa, Oklahoma, one son Matthew Purkey and his wife Amanda of Tulsa, Oklahoma, two daughters Angela Buie and her husband Kevin of Stroud, Oklahoma and Rebecca Purkey of Tulsa, Oklahoma and his six grandchildren; Bobby Porter, Kevin Porter, Ashlyn Purkey, Peyton Purkey, Benjamin Purkey and Winnie Purkey. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Joshua Purkey and his sisters Vickie Foster and Cathy Foster. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, March 11, 2016 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma, with John Sokolis and Randy Baumann officiating. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery. Casket bearers will be; Jeremy Foster, Jamal Khalil, Curtis Summers, Terry Shutts, Kevin Buie and Charlie Foster.
