Marilyn Gholson

Marilyn Kay (Willingham) Gholson, 62 year old Maud, Oklahoma resident, passed from this life and went on to Eternal Life on Friday, December 14, 2018 at her home in Maud.  She was born August 13, 1956 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to parents John "Ernest" Edmond Willingham and Vivian “Louise” (Standridge) Willingham. Marilyn graduated from Moore High School in Moore, Oklahoma in 1974. Marilyn married young in life and had three children. On February 26, 2000 Marilyn married the love of her life, Richard M. Gholson in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Marilyn learned to cook when she was 11 years old and could fix a complete meal.  She could make jelly and whatever she chose to can.  She was famous to her kids for her cinnamon rolls.  Anytime anyone came for supper you can bet you had homemade bread and always an “Okie Pie”. Marilyn love to travel all over.  She loved to go on ocean cruises and visiting different cultures and the beauty within.  She enjoyed meeting new people with open arms, she always made everyone feel so special and comfortable. Marilyn and Richard made their home in Maud, Oklahoma in 2000 where they lived on their cattle ranch, raised cattle and custom bailed hay.  They also owned and operated “Gholson Feed” until their retirement. Marilyn was so happy when her daughters moved to Maud, especially the past few years so she could see them on almost a daily basis during her illness. Survivors include her husband of 19 years, Richard Gholson of Maud, Oklahoma; one son, Justin Neidel and his wife Tracy of Edmond, Oklahoma; two daughters, Melissa Wilson and her husband Mark of Maud, Oklahoma, Lori Ann Allen and her husband Freddie of Maud, Oklahoma; one brother, Steven Clinkenbeard of Norman, Oklahoma; 13 grandchildren, Wesley Neidel, Eric Browning, Andrew Browning, Mark Wilson, Cherokee Wilson, Braydon Neidel, Olivia Allen, Patrick Neidel, Madison Neidel, Christian Neidel, Josh King, Ashley Padgett and Denton Padgett; 6 great-grandchildren, Kysen Neidel, Laiklynn Neidel, Mason Garner, Ruger Donalson, Dawson Donaldson and Bridger Wilson; two nieces, Donna Willmon and Carla Powell; and a host of other family and dear friends. Marilyn was preceded in death by her father, John "Ernest" Willingham, by her mother Vivian “Louise” Willingham-Clinkenbeard, by one sister Rita Ann Powell, by one great-granddaughter Kyligh Rumbaugh, by her stepfather Leroy Clinkenbeard, by niece Kerri Larsen and by one nephew, Charlie Powell. The Family will receive friends for visitation from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home in Maud, Oklahoma. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 20, 2018 at Trinity Baptist Church in Maud, Oklahoma with Pastor Butch Bradley officiating the service.  Interment will follow at Cummings Cemetery in Maud, Oklahoma. Casket Bearers will be: Braydon Neidel, Patrick Neidel, Christian Neidel, Eric Browning, Andrew Browning and Wesley Neidel. Honorary Bearers will be: Josh King, Mark “Bubba” Wilson and Billy Donaldson. Services are under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home in Maud, Oklahoma.
