Marie E. Stephens

Marie Evelyn Stephens, 94, longtime Seminole resident, died Monday, October 20, 2014 in Seminole, Oklahoma. Marie was born January 4, 1920 in Reynolds, Illinois. Marie was a homemaker. She was a loving mother, granny and angel. Marie loved to be with her family at holidays, going to her church, the Bowlegs Baptist Church, and she was loved by all that knew her. She married Leo Stephens in Hugo, Oklahoma on June 13, 1961; Leo preceded her in death April 6, 2013. Marie is survived by two daughters; Linda “Susie” Yancey and her husband Clint of Seminole, Oklahoma, Debbie Anson and her husband Charles of Seminole, Oklahoma, one son Ronnie Lashley and his wife Karen of Texas; two-stepdaughters , Sharon Stephens of Wetumka, Oklahoma and Cindy and Randy Mulkey of Wellston, Oklahoma; she is also survived by her grandchildren Rodney, Chad and Brad Lashley and Shelly Owens; Gary and Larry Yancey, Karen Krause, Annette Azlin, Jeanette Patterson, Rhonda Davis-Beaubien, Angie Deluna, Kellye Karstetter, Misty Douthit and Matt Anson; Thirty-four great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Leo Stephens, two sons, Johnny and Roger Lashley, Gene Lashley the father of Marie’s children, one grandson, Little John Lashley, one granddaughter, Danielle Haywood, stepdaughter, Darlene Collums, brother John Courtney and four sisters Ethel, Grace, Helen and Florence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, October 23, 2014 at the Bowlegs Baptist Church in Bowlegs, Oklahoma with Rev. Andy Quinton officiating. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery. Her grandsons will be casket bearers, Chad Lashley, Brad Lashley, Rodney Lashley, Chris Glasscock, Matt Anson and Gary Yancey. Honorary bearers will be her great grandsons. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen  Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
