Rose Marie was born in Neodesha, Kansas June 12, 1926 to Buford and Samantha Jane (Hughes) Vermillion. They decided to call her Marie. The family moved to Seminole Oklahoma during the oil boom, where Marie finished High School. rnrnMarie joined the war effort WWII by going to work at Tinker AFB in the main headquarters building where she met her husband, John W. Harris, an Air Force Second Lt. They were married April 7, 1947 in Seminole. She joined her husband in a 30 year Air Force career. They raised two sons, John who graduated from the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma and Michael, who graduated from Central State Univeristy in Edmond, Oklahoma, both entered the Air Force. Both are now serving their Country as Colonels in the United States Air Force. rnrnMarie made homes in various stations in the US, France and Alaska. After retirement Marie and John made their home in Edmond, Oklahoma where they have lived until Marie passed away.rnrnSurvivors include her husband John W. Harris of the home in Edmond, Oklahoma.rnrnTwo sons and daughters-in-law, John P. and wife Brenna Harris of Okinawa, Japan and Michael E. and wife Sandra Harris of Austin, Texas.rnrnSix grandchildren, Capt. Wiley Harris of Little Rock Air Force Base in Little Rock, Arkansas, Emily (Harris) Reagan and husband Capt. Patrick of Moore, Oklahoma, Alison Harris who is a grad. student at Rice University in Houston, TX, John Harris who is in the R.O.T.C. at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas, Senior Airman, Katy Harris and husband Senior Airman, Jesse Updegraf of Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, Nebraska and Army Sgt. Walter Harris and wife Julie of Ft. Campbell, Kentucky.rnrnMarie is preceded in death by her parents Buford and Jane Vermillion and by one sister and former Seminole resident, Francis Belle Whitford.rnrnCremation memorial service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 26, 2008 at the Alterra Sterling House located at 2435 NW 122nd Street in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
