Margrete Ruth (Stokes) Howell, 84 year-old Seminole County resident passed from this life Saturday, July 2, 2011 at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City. She was born February 10, 1927 in McClain, Texas to parents Roy Marvell Stokes and Katherine Hamilton (Henderson) Stokes. Margrete married Arthur “Wayne” Howell on November 9, 1946 in Clinton, Oklahoma. In 1959 the couple moved to Seminole County from Oologah, Oklahoma. Margrete worked for the USDA as a surveyor until her retirement, she also worked for the Seminole County Election Board and was active with the Seminole County Republican Women. She was also a member of the Bowlegs Methodist Church where she served the Lord in many capacities. Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Wayne Howell of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jeanette Margrete Harjo and her husband Phillip Harjo of Maud, Oklahoma and Katherine Ruth House and her husband Pete House of Seminole, Oklahoma; one sister, Mary Katherine Oglesby of Joplin, Missouri; five grandchildren; Stephen Harjo, Lance Harjo, Scott Harjo, Tyler Lane and Travis Lane, eight great-grandchildren and a host of other family and dear friends. Memorial services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 8, 2011 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be sent to the Bowlegs Methodist Church in Memory of Margrete Howell, 36033 EW 1210 Seminole, Oklahoma 74868.
