Margaret Ann Nicholson, 67, longtime Bowlegs resident, died Friday, February 14, 2014 at her home in Bowlegs. She was born August 9, 1946 in Stilwell, Oklahoma to Bessie (Morton) Matthews and Benjamin Franklin Matthews. Margaret grew up in Dustin, Oklahoma area; she attended schools there and graduated from Dustin High School in 1964. Margaret has lived in the Bowlegs, Oklahoma area for over 40 years. She was retired owner, operator and cook of the Bowlegs Café. She was a member of the Wolf Freewill Baptist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. Margaret loved to play bingo, watch Oklahoma City Thunder Basketball, watch her favorite TV shows, Gunsmoke and Bonanza. She was all about family; she loved her children and foster children who all called her “ Mom” She married Philip Nicholson on November 10, 1983 in Bowlegs, Oklahoma and he preceded her in death on February 15, 2005. She is survived by her four daughters; Johnna Nicholson and her fiance Frank Schlueter of Bowlegs, Julie Riddle and her husband James of Seminole, Oklahoma, Chelsea Nicholson of Bowlegs, and Lisa Padgett of Ada, Oklahoma; her special friend James Mullen of Seminole, one brother Kenneth Matthews and his wife Lou of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and sister-in-law, Claudia Matthews, two grandchildren Chancey and Garry Riddle and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Phil Nicholson, a sister, Lessie Matthews, three brothers, Bill, Garland and Wayne Matthews. Graveside services are planned for 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Thrace Cemetery, south of Bowlegs, Oklahoma with Rev. Allen Wood officiating. Casket bearers will be Wesley Mullen, Michael Mullen, Curtis Mullen, Jason Mullen, Garry Riddle and Josh Coleman. Honorary bearers will be Hoyle Schlueter, James Mullen, James Riddle, Kenneth Dean Matthews and Frank Schlueter. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
