Margaret Jean (Schrader) Neal, 83 year-old, long time Seminole resident passed from this life Friday, April 9, 2010 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. She was born September 27, 1926 in Konawa, Oklahoma to parents John Daniel Schrader and Minnie Dora (Thompson) Schrader. Margaret lived in Konawa where she graduated from Konawa High School in 1944 moving to Seminole after graduation. She married Doyle C. “Mutt” Neal on January 10, 1946 in Ada, Oklahoma. Together they raised four children and were faithful members of the Seminole First Baptist Church. Margaret taught 2nd grade Sunday school for 29 years and she had a deep commitment to the mission’s efforts, she was active in the Women’s Missionary Union also known as Women on Mission. Over the past many years Mrs. Neal was known for her incredible talent for making old-fashioned peanut brittle. All of the proceeds went to the World Missions endeavor of the First Baptist Church of Seminole. Many years she helped cook the Wednesday evening meals at the First Baptist Church, Seminole. Her love for cooking and feeding people carried over to going to Falls Creek many summers. Her claim to cooking fame wasn’t just limited to peanut brittle, family gatherings were not complete without her chicken and dumplings and her homemade biscuits. Margaret leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 64 years, Doyle Neal of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Bob Tinsley of Okemah, Oklahoma; three sons and daughters-in-law, Dan and Karen Elmore Neal of Enid, Oklahoma, Bill and Sandy Johnson Neal of Okemah, Oklahoma and Randy Neal of Seminole, Oklahoma; one son and daughter-in-law she adopted in friendship, Ken and Karen Green of Seminole, Oklahoma; 9 grandchildren, Sheri and her husband Mark Pitts, Jake Neal, Sarah and her husband Larry Branson, Richard Neal, Seth Tinsley, Bekah Tinsley, Maggie Neal, Krista Green and Kenny Green, Jr.; five great-grandchildren, Allie Pitts, Cevan Neal, Christopher Neal, Erica Branson and Peyton Branson; she is also survived by a host of other family and dear friends. Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, John and Minnie Schrader, by one sister, Mary Dean (Schrader) Berry and by one brother, Bill Schrader. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 12, 2010 at the Seminole First Baptist Church located at 420 Reid Street in Seminole, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Konawa Cemetery in Konawa, Oklahoma. Casket Bearers will be: (Grandsons) Jake Neal, Richard Neal, Seth Tinsley, Larry Branson, Mark Pitts and Kenny Green, Jr. Honorary Bearers will be: Dub Childers, Kenneth Mendenhall, Jack Reynolds, Kay Dodson, Allen Ledbetter, Howard Young and Larry McMains. The family requests that donations be made in memory of Margaret Neal to one of the First Baptist Church’s “Bridge Building Project”, “Falls Creek” or the “Lottie Moon Mission” funds at 420 Reid Street – Seminole, Oklahoma 74868.
