Margaret Meeks

Margaret Virginia (Carpenter) Meeks, former Seminole county resident entered eternal life at her home in Shawnee, Oklahoma on May 28, 2013; she was 80 years old. Margaret was born on October 25, 1932 near Wewoka in Seminole county to Clinton and Mamie (Sanders) Carpenter.  Though she was the second youngest child, everyone considered her the baby of the family. On July 15, 1950, Margaret married Billy Joe Meeks in Seminole, Oklahoma.  They made their home in Seminole for many years.  During that time, Margaret was a school cafeteria manager then for many years she worked at several of the local banks.  Billy worked in the oilfields so after many years in Seminole, they moved to several different locals in Oklahoma and Texas until Billy retired and they returned to Seminole.  Margaret loved traveling across America with Billy Joe, and often those trips were shared with her sister, Winnie, and her husband. Margaret leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Billy Joe of Shawnee, Oklahoma; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Billy Meeks and his wife, Sherry of Edmond, Oklahoma and Jack Meeks of Shawnee; one brother, Leon Carpenter of Wewoka, Oklahoma; one sister, Winnie Raney of Fontaine, California; two grandchildren, Shasta and Tracy; three great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends. Preceding Margaret in death were her parents; three brothers, Hamlin Carpenter, Curtis Carpenter and Fred Carpenter, and two sisters, Laverne Golf and Ruby Ingram. A graveside service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 3, 2013 at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens located east of Seminole on Hwy 270; Rev. Carl Whitfield will officiate.
