Margaret Joan Carney, 76 Margaret Joan Carney former Seminole a current resident of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma passed away Thursday, June 8, 2017 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 76. Margaret was born June 8, 1941 in Seminole, Oklahoma to parents, Sam Ripley and Sally (Larney) Ripley. She married Johnny Lee Carney on June 20, 1978 at Billy Hooten Methodist Church of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. After graduation she earned an Associate Degree in Psychology and a Stenographic Diploma. Margaret grew up in Seminole, attended several boarding schools but she lived most of her life in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Margaret was a member of the Ceyvha Chiaha Clan, AA sponsor and counselor, an active member of Billy Hooten Methodist church. With 15 years of loyal dedication service she retired from the Oklahoma Tax Commission. Margaret was the type of person who love to help others not only family and friends but strangers as well. If they needed food she’d cook up a feast, if they needed a place to stay, she opened her home and let them stay until they got on their feet. She loved making new friends everywhere she went. Her love was strong for her family, especially for her grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was loved and admired by all especially by her family. She loved to play bingo, crochet, dancing, driving, attending pow wows and eating at buffets. Margaret is survived by three sons, John S. Carney of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Victor J. Kemp of Ardmore, Oklahoma and Edgar L. Carney and his wife Cecelia Carney of Ardmore, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Margaret was preceded in death by her father, Sam Ripley; mother, Sally Larney; her husband, Johnny L. Carney; sisters, “Scottie” Jennie Ross, Fannie Hernendez, Annie Ruth Hicks; brothers, John Larney, Sr., Samuel “Sunnie” Ripley; cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents. Margaret will be taken to Hitchitee United Methodist Church at 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 12, 2017 for a 7:00 p.m. wake service. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at Hitchitee United Methodist Church with Rev. Margaret Johnson and Donnie Wolf officiating. Burial will take place at the Hitchitee Cemetery. Serving as casket bearers are: Christopher Carney, Chris Attadelity, Lacquntino “Lucky” Johnson, Michael Ripley and Nathan Ripley. Honorary casket bearers are: Victor Kemp, John Carney, Sr., Edgar Carney, J.J. Carney and Johnny Mike Fixico.
