Major Donald " Don" Lee Martin, Ret., 78, Seminole, Oklahoma resident, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2019 in Seminole, Oklahoma. Donald was born January 21, 1941 in Seminole, Oklahoma to Paul Martin and Myrtle ( Becks) Martin. Don entered the United States Army, and had attained the rank of Major, and had a distinguished career, before his honorable discharge from the United States Army. Major Martin served his country well, as a helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War, received several medals and awards for outstanding service to his country, and he also received the Purple Heart during his time in the service. Don after his time in the U.S. Army, he served as Dean at Central Texas College in Killeen, Texas, Pacific Far East Campus. He was affiliated with the following; Special Operations Association, Riders Vietnam Helicopter, Pilots Associations, Blackhorse Association, DAV, Harley Ownership Group, AAA, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Abate Oklahoma, the American Legion. Donald was also a faithful member of the Church of Christ at Seminole, Oklahoma. Don had a deep love and respect for his wife of 55 years, Maria, he loved his family, sports, all branches of the military, but especially the U.S. Army. He cherished God and his country and served them both well. Donald is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Maria Katharina (Schwarz) Martin, they were married in Baumholder, Germany, on July 4, 1963, she survives his and lives in Seminole, Oklahoma, he is also survived by daughters; Michelle Toilolo and her husband Kalauta of Ft. McCoy, Wisconsin and Paula E. Eka, his brother; Mike Martin of Wichita Falls, Texas, eight grandchildren; James Toilolo, Nyah Toilolo, Alana, Michael, Dawn Toilolo, Brianna Martin, Leeon Eka and Alaylah Martin; great grandchildren; Kal Toilolo and Legand Martin. Donald was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Paula Kyle. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, April 5, 2019 at the Church of Christ at Seminole at 12040 Hwy 99N in Seminole, with Arpoika Daniels officiating. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery, with Full Military Honors. Swearingen Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements.
