Majel Nettie Carpitcha, 90 year old Oklahoma City, Oklahoma resident, passed from this life on Monday, November 14, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. Majel was born September 12, 1926 near Wolf, Oklahoma to parents, Lucinda Coker and Jimpsey Carbitcha. Majel was a member of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma. She graduated from Oklahoma University in 1947 and went on to work at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma where she served as a colonel’s secretary for 38 years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Oklahoma City and was active with the “Meals on Wheels” program. Although Majel never married, she was always instrumental in her niece, WaDean Margarita Cowan and nephew, Wallace Reed Cowan Jr.’s lives as well as the lives of their children and grandchildren lives. Both WaDean and Wally Cowan live in Maud. Majel is also survived by 3 great nieces and 1 great nephew; 4 great-great nieces, 3 great-great nephews and one great-great-great nephew. Majel was preceded in death by her mother, Lucinda Coker, by her father Jimsey Carbitcha; by two sisters, Annella Kemp and Maxine Cowan, and by one brother-in-law, Wallace Cowan. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma with Elder Rick Harjo officiating the service. Honorary Bearers will be: Teresa Perkins, Terry Hester, John Grove, Derek Rowsey, Robert Wells, Auston Claborn, Frank Williams, Susan Williams, Brian Brewer, and Gayla Munoz.
