Maggie (Douglas) Hubbard

Maggie Hubbard, a Lima, OK resident, passed away on Monday, April 8, 2024 in Moore, OK at the age of 89. Maggie was born on May 21, 1934 in Millen, GA to Gus Douglas and Elizabeth Douglas.

Maggie married the love of her life, James Lawrence Hubbard, on May 26, 1956 in Bakersfield, California.  In their 63 year marriage they raised 6 sons and 5 daughters. Maggie was an example of the Proverbs 31 woman as reflected in her devotion as a wife, mother and grandmother.  She loved cooking for her family and friends and planting flowers and gardening. She and her husband always shared the many fruits of those gardens with the elderly of the community. Maggie blessed many children while working in the child care Head Start Program both in Lima and Wewoka. She would later become a Home Health Care worker, taking care of elderly citizens. She was a dedicated and faithful member of First Baptist Church in Lima for over 60 years.

Maggie leaves to treasure her memory 6 sons, Max Hubbard, Albert Hubbard, Lawrence Hubbard and wife, Diva, Edward Hubbard and wife, Joan, Fred Hubbard and Victor Hubbard; five daughters, Tana Lemisio and husband, Tavita, Telah Hubbard, Leuria Hubbard, Savory Hubbard and Sonya Hubbard-Knight; grandchildren, Madison Hubbard, Abigail Hubbard, Tasha Cullom, Delaina Johnson, Chasity Hubbard, Jo'Nika Hubbard, Joshua Hubbard, Jonathan McKay, Jonathan Hubbard, Marc Knight, Rodney Hubbard, Fred Hubbard Jr., Chiaunte Hubbard, Cory James, Amber Huston and Carpria Freeman; two surviving sisters; Dorthy Douglas-King and Juanita Douglas-Davis and many other family and friends.

Maggie was preceded in death by her parents, Gus and Elizabeth Douglas; her husband, James Lawrence Hubbard; sisters Brownie Douglas-Holmes and Geneva Douglas-Payton and brother, Gus Douglas Jr.

Those serving as casket bearers will be: Max Hubbard, Johnathan Hubbard, Edward Hubbard, Marc Knight, Rodney Hubbard and Victor Hubbard.

Viewing will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Friday, April 19, 2024 from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, OK.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, OK with Dr. W. E. Cooper officiating.  Interment will follow at Lima Cemetery.
