Mae Antoinete Homesley, 67 Life long Seminole county resident Mae Antoinete Homesley passed away Friday, March 29, 2013 at her home at the age of 67. Mae was born January 28, 1946 in Earlsboro, Oklahoma to parents, Alphonso P. Homesley and Marguerite (Pegram) Homesley. Being of the Baptist faith, Mae was a member of the Union Baptist Church of Shawnee, Oklahoma. Her favorite book was the Bible, which she read daily. Mae lived a life of great quality for she was able to accomplish many things that most people just dream of. After graduating from high school at the age of 16, she earned a bachelor degree in biology from Langston University by age 20, then earned a Master’s degree from East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma. Mae belonged to the Zeta Phi Beta, Union Missionary Society, National Educators Association, Oklahoma Educators Association, Business Professional Women, and the Eastern Star. When she retired from teaching, she became a world traveler. Mae traveled all over Europe, the Caribbean and the Holy Land being one of her favorite places to see. She possessed the ability to tell of her travels which made you think you were there. She knew how to fly a single engine airplane, and knew karate. Mae is survived by a host of cousins, a number of other family members, former colleagues and her beloved former students. Mae was preceded in death by her parents; Alphonso Homesley and Marguerite Homesley and one brother, Alphonso Homesley, Jr.. Visitation will be held 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, April 7, 2013 at Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be held: 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 8, 2013 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lee Oliver officiating. Burial will take place at Earlsboro Cemetery, Earlsboro, Oklahoma. Serving as casket bearers are: Afalo Bray, Kevin Hardeman, Dearborn Edwards, Ronald Mayweather, Thomas Griffis and John E. Permetter, Sr.. Honorary casket bearers are: Tim Wimbly and Gerald Walton. Cousins and friends will serve as flower girls.
