Mae Esther Gillespie, 98 Former Seminole resident Mae Esther Gillespie, passed away, May 11, 2010 at Three Rivers Nursing Home in Three Rivers, Texas. She was a Seminole resident for 50 plus years. Mae was born to parents; Daniel and Alice (Howes) Rehkopf, May 5, 1912 in Cedar Twp, Osceola, Michigan. Mae was an office manager and veterinarian assistant for a total of 36 years. She began her career with Dr. Howell at the Howell Animal Hospital where she worked for 19 years and the last 17 years for Dr. Kuhn at the State Street Animal Hospital in Seminole, Oklahoma, where she retired at the age of 87. Mae also was a member of the First Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She married Montie Guy Gillespie on February 16, 1944, at Pratt, Kansas, he preceded her in death on May 24, 1957. Mae is survived by twin children; son, Marvin Gillespie and spouse Joan Bentley of Pensacola, Florida and daughter, Frances Swenson and spouse Peter of Tilden, Texas. Two grandchildren; Karin Swenson of Euless, Texas and Meredith Swenson of San Antonio, Texas. Mae preceded in death by; parents, husband Montie Gillespie, brother Orlan Rehkopf and infant sister. Funeral service for Mae will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 15, 2010 at the Old Historic Strothers Chapel, Rev. Gary Wilburn will officiate. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Seminole, Oklahoma. Serving as Casket Bearers: Barry Tims, Bill West, Roy Brown, Steven Evans, Dr. James Kuhm and Dr. Peter Swenson.
