Luster Heffley

Luster Lee Heffley, 84 year-old, Maud, Oklahoma resident passed from this life on Monday, October 14, 2013 at his home in Maud.  He was born August 15, 1929 in Seminole, Oklahoma to parents Rancie Charley “Rance” Heffley and Neather Ethel (Mitchell) Heffley. Luster graduated from Harjo High School in 1948 and went on to join the United States Army where he earned the Army of Occupation (Germany) Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.  He married Joyce Ruth Renfro on April 6, 1950 in Chandler, Oklahoma.  Luster went on to earn his Associates degree in Business from Seminole State College.  Sadly his wife Joyce preceded him in death on September 26, 2012 after 62 years of marriage. Following his service to our country Luster worked as a ground safety specialist at Tinker Air Force Base in Midwest City, Oklahoma until his retirement in 1987.  Luster had also served on the Maud Public School Board of Education for many years.  He later worked as a bus driver for Maud Public Schools for several years. Luster had served as the Mayor of Maud and was also a charter member of Trinity Baptist Church where he served the Lord in many capacities including, serving as a Deacon and as the Church Treasurer. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Lance Heffley and his wife Teresa of McLoud, Oklahoma; two daughters and son-in-law, Susan Williams and her husband Frank of Maud, Oklahoma, Lisa Prince of Maud, Oklahoma; three brothers, Marvin Heffley of Maud, Oklahoma, Robert Heffley of Tishomingo, Oklahoma, Donnie Heffley of Shawnee, Oklahoma; two sisters, Fern Mayo of Lawton, Oklahoma, Martha Lewis of Texas; seven grandchildren, Cody Williams, Jessie Williams, Darin Heffley, Eddie Heffley, Chris Edwards, Jason Wolf and his wife Keisha, Ashley Parris and her husband Caleb; five great-grandchildren, Gavin Williams, Jaxon Williams, Jesslyn Williams, Lyric Wolf, Liberty Wolf and one great-grandchild is on the way. Luster was prededed in death by his parents, his wife Joyce Heffley, one brother, Chester Heffley, two sisters, Revenia Vance and Shirley Coon. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 18, 2013 at Trinity Baptist Church in Maud, Oklahoma with Military Honors.  Glen Williams will officiate the service, with Fred Stewart assisting.  Special music will be provided by David Heffley. Casket Bearers will be, Cody Williams, Jessie Williams, Darin Heffley, Jason Wolf, Caleb Parris and Eddie Heffley. Honorary Bearers will be, Frank Williams, Gavin Williams and Chris Edwards. Services are under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home in Maud, Oklahoma.
