Lucy Jane Hill, 101, longtime Little community resident, died Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Seminole Care and Rehab Center in Seminole. Lucy was born August 12, 1912 in Polk County, Texas to Honor (Nowlin) and J. H. Martin, she was the last of eleven children born to them. Mrs. Hill was an longtime Seminole county educator, she taught at Haney Schools, Strothers School, and Prairie Valley before going to Varnum Schools where she taught for over 25 years and retired after 43 years of teaching. She attended and graduated from Haney High School and received her Bachelor of Education at East Central College in Ada, Oklahoma and later received her Masters of Education a the University of Oklahoma. She was a longtime active member of the Church of Christ at Little. Mrs. Hill was a huge television sports fan. She loved to watch OU football and New York Yankees baseball. Lucy married W.R. “ Buck” Hill on February 3, 1940 in Okemah, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on May 19, 2000. Mrs. Hill is survived by her two sons Bill Hill of Seminole, Oklahoma and Sam Hill and his wife Susan Hill of Kendalia, Texas, two granddaughters, Stephanie Wade and Juliet Spencer of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, two great grandchildren, Justin Elliott and Brandon Elliott, also several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at the Church of Christ at Little, Oklahoma with Rusty Dawson officiating. Burial will take place at Little Cemetery. Casket bearers are Larry Vickers, Jeff Davis, Larry Birdwell, Hugo Finke, Dempsy Chesser, Roy Boydstun and Tex Gleichman.
