Lucille (Tiger) Chupco, 89 year old, Seminole, Oklahoma resident passed from this life on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at her home in Seminole. She was born July 16, 1925 in Seminole to parents, Jesse Tiger and Mindy (Jones) Tiger. The family lived in Seminole County until Lucille’s father, Jesse took a job with the W.P.A. and the family moved to Altus, Oklahoma in 1940. Then in 1944 Lucille graduated from Altus High School and went on to earn her associate degree from Western State College in Altus. On October 10, 1950 Lucille married Amos Chupco in Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. In 1965 Amos retired from the United States Army after 21 years of service. The couple moved to Chicago, Illinois in 1969 when Amos took a job with the Bureau of Indian Affairs Relocation Training Program. They returned to Seminole 41 years ago to live out the remainder of their lives together. Sadly, Amos preceded her in death, after almost 55 years of marriage on February 22, 2005. Lucille worked as a Administrative Assistant for the Seminole Nation Housing Authority for several years until her retirement in 1980. Lucille was an avid sports fan who loved almost any sport from golf to the occasional bull riding events. She was most fond of OU, and the Oklahoma City Thunder. Lucille also enjoyed playing Bingo. She was a member of the Achena Indian Presbyterian Church near Maud, Oklahoma. Lucille was also a proud member of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma. Lucille leaves to cherish her memory, her loving granddaughter and caregiver, Bettie Chupco and her husband Joe Luna Jr. of the home; one daughter, Phyllis Platta of Mescalero, New Mexico; one daughter-in-law, Debra Chupco-Jones of Wetumka, Oklahoma; aunt, Dorothy Jones-Harjo of Seminole, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, Bettie Chupco, James Chupco Jr., Treva Chupco, Lucinda Chupco, Jessie Zysk, Benedict Platta and Newton Platta; five great-grandchildren, Sage Chupco, Chebon Chupco, Pierce Zysk, Darwin James “D.J.” Chupco and Kiah Zysk; and a host of other nieces, nephews and a host of other family and dear friends. Lucille is preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Mindy Tiger; her husband Amos Chupco who died February 22, 2005; and by one son, James Edward Chupco Sr. who died in 2003. A wake service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, January 25, 2015 at Achena Indian Presbyterian Church near Maud, with Lewis Fife officiating the wake. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 26, 2015 at Achena Indian Presbyterian Church near Maud, with Rev. Rick Harjo officiating the service. Interment will follow at the Achena Church Cemetery. Casket Bearers will be: Marion Jones, Joel Luna Jr., Glen Coker, Allen Aldridge, Mark Evans, and Anthony Nguyen. Honorary Bearers will be: Steve Jones, Keith Coker, Hayden Jones, Chris Tiger, and the Elders of Achena Indian Presbyterian Church.
