Lt. Colonel Larry Guy Cope, 73, of Eufaula, Oklahoma died Friday, September 9, 2011 at his home in Eufaula, Oklahoma. Larry was born March 7, 1938 in Clinton, Oklahoma to Bernie Guy and Mary Jean (Duncum) Cope. Larry served in the United States Air Force for 20 years, and retired as a Lt. Colonel. LT. Colonel Cope was stationed at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. He had a distinguished military career as an Air Force Pilot for 13 years and a Director of Operations for 3 years. He also served during the Vietnam War and received several Air Force commendation medals, Vietnam Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Award and Air Force Outstanding Unit Award. Larry was a member of the V.F.W. in Eufaula, Oklahoma and the Kiwanis Club in Wetumka, Oklahoma. Larry love living at Lake Eufaula, he loved fishing, gardening and family functions and spending time and traveling with his wife Nowatha. Larry was married to longtime Seminole resident Nowatha Williams on May 28, 1993 in Mena, Arkansas. Nowatha survives him of the home. Larry is survived by his wife, Nowatha of 18 years of Eufaula, Oklahoma, two sons; Timothy Cope and Christopher Cope both of California, daughter and son-in-law Kelly and Reuben Peltier of Shawnee, Oklahoma and Kim Carter and friend Robin of Shawnee, Oklahoma and eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren survive Larry. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Tuesday September 13, 2011 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole, with full Military Honors provided by the U.S. Air Force. Jason Lee and Croslin Smith will officiate at the service. There will be a wake service Sunday, September 11, 2011 from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M. at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel. Honorary bearers will be James Williams, Dennis Nix, Mark Bonin, Jason Cross, Justin Lee, Trent Lee, Andy Norton, Frank Carter and Eric Cope, Frank Alexander, Jim Moore, Auztin Carter and Mike McBride.
