Lowell Eugene Staggs

May 19, 1939 — April 28, 2017

Lowell Eugene “Gene” Staggs, 77 year old lifelong Seminole County resident, passed from this life on Friday, April 28, 2017 at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  He was born May 19, 1939 to parents, Elmer Staggs and Rose (Massey) Staggs. Gene graduated from Wewoka High School in 1958. Gene attended the Bowlegs First Assembly of God Church and was also a member of the Oklahoma State Trap Association where he was a  State Champion in Registered Trap Singles Class C in 1978. Gene had worked as a sales associate for 24 plus years at Black Gold Auto currently known as United Motors Auto Sales in Seminole, Oklahoma. Survivors include one daughter, Kerry Wilson and her husband Bryan Wilson of Holdenville, Oklahoma; two sisters, Francis Prewitt of Huntsville, Texas, Lois McGuire and her husband Mickey McGuire of Wewoka, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Kaitlyn Trammell, and Bobbi Jo Trammell; five great-grandchildren, Gabby, Wyatt, Taesyn, Torin, and Cal; a special friend, Storm Thompson of Ada, Oklahoma; and a host of other family and dear friends. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Rose Staggs, by one brother, Erdis Staggs, and by one brother-in-law, William Prewitt. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma, with Rev. Roy Robertson officiating.  Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka, Oklahoma. Casket Bearers will be Ken Green, Tony Campbell, Jeremiah Vaughn, Randy Pierce, Kevin Brinker, and James Overall. Honorary bearers will be Jack Tyree, Roger Cunningham and Mark Guy.
