Louie Venson Richards, 82, longtime Seminole resident, died Tuesday, February 9, 2016. Louie was born June 12, 1933 in Lehman, Texas to Chester Lee Richards and Ida (Brazier) Richards. Louie was retired from the U. S. Army, where he earned the rank of Staff Sergeant. He enlisted in the Army at the age of 17. He served in Korea, Vietnam and the Cuban Crisis, in all he served 20 years to his country. After his retirement from the military he drove a school bus for New Lima Schools and retired from Fred Jones Manufacturing on Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Louie enjoyed fishing and watching his grandkids play sports. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed playing solitaire, and repairing televisions and radios. He married Sarah Verene Dye on August 8, 1959 in Plainview, Texas; she preceded him in death. He is survived by one son Louie Venson Richards, Jr. and his wife Charlene of Wewoka, Oklahoma, one daughter Kay Lynn Hasbell of Seminole, Oklahoma, two sisters Exa Weber of Herford, Texas and Billie Martin of Big Spring, Texas, one brother Donnie Richards of Lubbock, Texas, five grandchildren; Leslie and Aaron Driver of Swansea, South Carolina, Jesslyn Richards of Wewoka, Oklahoma, Kendall Johnson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Charla Hamilton and Greg Hamilton of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Tommy Hasbell of Seminole, Oklahoma, seven great grandchildren, Bella and Abi Driver of Swansea, South Carolina, Kyndilyn Johnson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Brooklynn Winlock of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Chance Winlock of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Adilynn Hamilton of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Aayden Cochran of Snowflake, Arizona and Houston Lee Hasbell of Grove, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Sarah, and his siblings, Juanita Newman, RB Richards, Corene Self, Chester Richards, and Junior Richards. Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, February 13, 2016 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma, with Jimmy and Nita Moreland officiating. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery. Casket Bearers will be; Kendall Johnson, Greg Hamilton, Louie V. Richards, Jr., Brian Young, Robert Rouner and Ricky Rivas.
