Loretta Maye Tompkins, 77, Seminole, Oklahoma resident, died Sunday, October 22, 2017. Loretta was born September 4, 1940 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Roy Jackson and Dorothy Marie (Chaney) Owens. Loretta was a Psychiatric and Behavioral Science specialist and a Licensed Practical Nurse. She had worked for Golden Rule Nursing Home in Shawnee, Oklahoma for 2 years. She had also worked for several years at the State Hospital in California helping mentally disabled children and with behavior problems. Loretta loved cooking, being with her family, taking care of people, traveling, her grandchildren and her dogs. She will always be remembered as a person who loved people, never meeting a stranger, having a big heart and taking care of people. Loretta is survived by her sons; Lynn Tompkins of Meeker, Oklahoma, Michael Tompkins of Harrah, Oklahoma, Roy Tompkins of Roseburg, Oregon and Oran “Boo” Tompkins, Jr. of Seminole, Oklahoma, three daughters; Debra Gould of Seminole, Oklahoma, Sheryln Arwood of Roseburg, Oregon and Lanita Weimer of Seminole, Oklahoma, one brother, Leroy Owens of Sacramento, California, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a sister. Private family services will be held at a later date to celebrate her life.
