Lorene Webb

Winnie Lorene (Brown) Bateman Webb, 90, finished her life on this earth on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at Integris Seminole Medical Center. Lorene was born July 25, 1920 in Mead, Oklahoma. She was born to John Marshall and Isma Captolia (Smith) Brown. She grew up in the Durant area and moved to Seminole in 1947. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Seminole and raised her three daughters in the church. She taught herself to sew and loved gardening and always planted flowers in her yard. She also loved to make ceramics. She married her first husband Truman Bateman, who was the father of her children, January 1937 and he preceded her in death March 6, 1966. Together they owned and operated a school bus for the Seminole School System. From 1948-1962.  She later married Raymond Webb on August 27, 1967 and together they owned and operated “Granny’s This and That” north of Seminole from 1994 to 2002. Raymond preceded her in death on July 2, 2002. Truman and she owned and operated a mobile snow cone business from horse-drawn milk wagons and later milk trucks from 1950 to 1960 in Seminole, Ada and Anadarko, Oklahoma during the summer months. Lorene worked for Sylvania and retired from Wrangler in 1985. Her daughters, JoAnn Oakley of Sugarland, Texas, Barbara Stotts of Seminole, Oklahoma and Phylis Dye of New Braunsfels, Texas, survive her. Her grandchildren, Greg Oakley and his wife Cathy of Sugarland, Texas. Susie Hicks and her husband Darren of El Reno, Oklahoma, Danny Stotts of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Stacy Long and her husband Darrell of Austin, Texas. She is also survived by her great grandchildren Garrett Oakley and his wife Michelle, Derek Oakley and his wife, Jessi , Denee and her husband Wes, and Alana Randall, Colton Randall and Catherine Long. She is also survived by great great Grandchildren, Robby, Aidan Randall, and soon to be baby girl Avery Oakley. Her parents, two husbands, One Grandson Bart Steven Oakley and three brothers Leonard Brown, Dewey Brown and Wade Brown preceded her in death. Funeral services are planned for 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 25, 2011 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Marvin Kehl officiating. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery. Casket bearers will be: Rick Brown, David Henley, Greg Oakley, Colton Randall, Leonard Sjoberg, and Dale Smith. Visitation will be Saturday till 7:00 P.M. and Sunday from 3:00 to 6:00 P.M.
