Lorena "Rena" Pearl (Sutton) Carter

Lorena “Rena” Pearl (Sutton) Carter, age 93 and a resident of Konawa, Oklahoma passed away from this life Saturday, December 16, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family and friends under the loving care of McCortney Hospice. A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 22, 2017 at Vamoosa Baptist Church under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa.  Rev. Bruce Sanders will officiate. Rena was born, March 16, 1924 in Holdenville, Oklahoma to Samuel Jesse Sutton and Mary Alma (Willhoite) Sutton.  She graduated from Vamoosa High School and married Otto Claud Carter, Jr. January 13, 1943 in Wewoka, Oklahoma.  She was a charter member of Vamoosa Baptist Church and loved reading the Bible, traveling, gardening, sewing, and most of all she loved her family very much. She is survived by one son, Bob Carter and wife, Linda of Byng, Oklahoma; two daughters, Glenda Moon and husband, Joe of Byng, Oklahoma, and Gayla Branscum and husband Ronnie of Konawa; one brother, Walter Sutton and wife, Charlsey of Seminole, Oklahoma; and one sister, Lo Scott and husband, Gene of Tucson, Arizona. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Philip and wife, Missy Khoury, Lori and husband, Donny Roberts, Stephen and wife, Shannan Khoury, Kim Carter, Amy and husband, Lance Bowman, and Sarah and husband, Ernie Herriman; fifteen great grandchildren, Ashleigh Khoury, Danielle Khoury, Lauren Khoury, Carter Khoury, Katherine Khoury, Becca and husband, Jarryd Loring, Riley Bowman, Chris Roberts, Brie Roberts, Shane Carter, Jeremy and wife, Kristie Herriman, Dusty Herriman, Gracie Herriman, Kaylee Herriman, and Emily Herriman; four great-great grandchildren, Ragean Khoury, Cash Bolen, Kyle Bolen, and Stella Herriman. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-six years, Otto Carter, Jr.; both parents; five brothers, Earnie, Arnom, Clyde, Carl, and Bill Sutton; two sisters, Clara Rigdon and Mamie Pearl Sutton; and numerous other family members.
