Lola Mae (Merrell) Garner, age 79 and life-long resident of the Konawa, Oklahoma area, passed away from this life on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital in Shawnee, Oklahoma. A memorial service is pending at this time, and cremation is under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa, Oklahoma. Lola was born May 15, 1940 in Vamoosa, Oklahoma to Oscar H. Merrell and Ida Elizabeth (Hanna) Merrell. She graduated from Vamoosa High School, and married James Maurice Garner on March 11, 1962 at Vamoosa. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Konawa, and she worked for many years as a secretary for Walker Brother’s Oil and Gas. Lola loved being with her grandchildren, and she loved to draw and to paint. She is survived by four sons, James “Gordon” Garner and wife, Ronda of Konawa, Brent M. Garner of the home, Guy David Garner of Konawa, and James Michael Garner and wife, Debbie, also of Konawa; one daughter, Terri Faulk and husband Bruce of Atlanta, Georgia; one brother, Jack Merrell and wife, Janet of Konawa; two sisters, Norma McKeever of Konawa, and Linda Bowerman and husband, Cotton of Neosho, Missouri; six grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Denver and John Merrell; and two sisters, LaVon Hubble, and Bobbie Womack.
