Loisetta Nix, 59, longtime Seminole resident, died February 11, 2014 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma after a sudden illness. Loisetta was born February 12, 1954 in Seminole, Oklahoma to Pauline (Harjo) and Jess Williams. Loisetta grew up in Seminole and attended Seminole Public Schools; she graduated from Seminole High School. Loisetta was a huge OU fan. She worked as the Executive /General Counsel Secretary for the Seminole Nation before going to work for the Bureau of Indian Affairs in 1992. She worked as the court clerk for the CFR Court until two years ago, when she moved to administration for a total of 22 years of service to the Bureau of Indian Affairs. She was a proud member of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma. She received a citation from the State of Oklahoma on March 30, 1992, for valiant leadership to the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma. She married Dennis Nix on February 1, 1985 at the Hitchitte Indian Methodist Church northeast of Seminole, Oklahoma. She is survived by her husband, Dennis Nix of Seminole, Oklahoma, her son, Jason Cross and his wife Brandy of Seminole, Oklahoma, one brother, James Williams of Wewoka, Oklahoma, two sisters, Nowatha Cope of Eufaula, Oklahoma and Samaria Caldwell of Greenwood, South Carolina, along with four grandchildren, Dylan Cross, Haley Presley, Cadey Riddle and Blake Presley. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jess and Pauline Williams, step father, Buster Deere, a granddaughter, Jade Cross and three sisters, Maxine Hines, Christine Hinesly and Irene Prust. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Saturday, February 15, 2014 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating. Burial will take place at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole, Oklahoma. Casket bearers will be Brad Heinzig, Jessie Williams, Kyle Williams, Bryan Wilson, Terry Nix, Randy Nix. Honorary bearers will be Bill Lozier, Roger Coleman, Howard Allen, Houston Nix, Ryan Nix and Eddie Streater. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
