L.K. “Ham” Wright, 88, longtime Seminole resident, died Friday, February 6, 2015 at his home in Seminole. Mr. Wright was born January 9, 1927 in Clemscott, Oklahoma to Dorris (Braboy) and Willie B. Wright. Mr. Wright worked for many years as a roustabout and service man for The Seminole Company, which was an oilfield service company in Seminole. Ham attended and graduated from Asher High School. Mr. Wright was best known to his close friends as “Ham” and “Hambo”. Ham could be seen many mornings at the Daylight Donut Shop drinking coffee and greeting friends with his longtime friend and running buddy, Sonny Miller. They always had a corner table by the front door and loved to say hello to everyone, especially the children, and would always give the school kids a “High Five” as they left for school. Ham loved to go fishing with Glen Braboy. They spent many days fishing before Mr. Braboy’s death. Ham also loved watching college sporting events. Ham is survived by his brother, Herman Wright and his wife Ann, of Midland, Texas, sister Lois Everhart of Ontario, California, a sister-in-law, Gatha Wright of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, several nieces and nephews and close friends, Charles and Betty Webster, Sonny Miller, Stan Kiker, all of Seminole, and Gene and Neta Webster, who preceded him in death. Ham married Jeannie Lucas Wright on August 28, 1951 at the Free Will Baptist Church in Wolf, Oklahoma, she preceded him in death on March 6, 1993. Ham was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Jeannie Wright, his son, Rickey, in 1956. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at the Little Cemetery, north of Seminole with his nephew, Keith Braboy officiating. A visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Monday, February 9, 2015 at Swearingen Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
