Linda Gipson Stone of Seminole, Oklahoma passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2008 after a sudden illness. Linda, the matriarch of her family, was born in Seminole, Oklahoma on May 13, 1941 to Fred and Leola (Dickey) Gipson. rnrnShe was a graduate of the University of Oklahoma with a degree in English and a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. She continued her education by earning her masters degree from the University of Central Oklahoma as a media specialist. Linda dedicated over twenty years of her life to the field of education serving not only as a teacher, but also serving several years as a member of the Seminole School Board. She also sponsored school activities such as cheerleading and teaching alternative school at night. She enjoyed her career in teaching at Seminole High School where she was able to watch her own children graduate. She was an active member of St. Marks Episcopal Church where she was a Lay Reader and a member of Chapter CL P.E.O. rnrnLinda treasured her time with her husband and particularly their daily games of pool. Some of Linda?s favorite activities were playing bridge with her life long friends, reading and traveling. Linda was a true lady who always held her family and friends very close to her heart. She was fondly called LaLa by her grandchildren and grandnieces and nephews who always looked forward to their time with her at ?Camp Seminole?. rnrnLinda is survived by her husband Ralph Stone; her son Cal Sharpe, his wife Way and her granddaughter Kat of Seminole, her son John Sharpe, his fianc?e Brooke, and her son Conley of Tulsa, and her daughter Susan Downs, her husband Jeff, and her grandchildren Todd and Abby of Norman. She is also survived by her brother Fred Gipson, and several nieces and nephews all of Norman, Oklahoma, her cousins Dickey and Mary Bryan of Seminole, and Sam and Jane Poole of Houston, Texas. rnrnA memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Seminole on Friday, November 21, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Jim Knowles officiating. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to St. Mark?s Episcopal Church, P.O.
