Linda Sue Howes, Maud, OK resident, passed away on Friday, March 7, 2025 in Midwest City at the age of 70. Linda was born on June 18, 1954 in Richmond, MO to Kenneth Richard and Anna Charlene (Shipley) Wheeler. She grew up in Richmond and moved to Maud, OK in 1983. She married the love of her life Lester Howes on December 24, 1980 in Lexington, MO. Linda was the head cook at Maud Elementary Cafeteria and the kids there knew her as Mawmaw.
Linda enjoyed fishing, crafts, Davis football, playing Cool Cats at the casino and fritters from Catfish Roundup. She was an amazing cook and baker. She took great joy in going to Branson during the Christmas season. She enjoyed watching Bob Ross paint. Above all Linda loved her husband, her kids, grandkids and greats!!!
Linda was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Wheeler; mother, Anna Swanson; three brothers; two sisters and one step-son, Jerry Howes.
Linda is survived by her husband of 44 years, Lester Howes of Maud, OK; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kelly and Shane Smith of Seminole, OK and Maryann and Nick Tuttle of Davis, OK; step-son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Kimberly Howes of Lexington, MO; brother and sister-in-law, Sam and Debbie Wheeler of Evansville, WY; two sisters and brother-in-law, Arlene Bellis and Randy Georgen of Broken Arrow, OK and Burla Carr of Lee’s Summit, MO; fifteen grandchildren, Allie Turner, Tylar Thomas, Grayson Smith, Aubrey Grigg, Bryce Tuttle, Hunter Smith, Chandler Smith, Maci Smith, Nicole Tuttle, Ashley Howes, Keeley Howes, River Howes, Anna Howes, Courtney Howes, Kylie Howes and Cole Howes; eight great grandchildren and many other family and friends.
Those serving as casket bearers will be Bryce Tuttle, Hunter Smith, Tarren Grigg, Andy Robinson, Shane Smith and Nick Tuttle.
Viewing will be Monday, March 10, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, OK.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at Little Cemetery with Pastor Carl Whitfield officiating.
