Linda Sue Ellis

Linda Sue Ellis, 64, Shawnee Oklahoma resident, passed away Monday, January 15, 2018 at her home in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Linda was born February 23, 1953, in Wewoka, Oklahoma to Leo Cummings and Lucille (Harjo) Johnson. Linda was a Seminole/Creek tribal member. Linda was the Director of the Housing Authority for 30 years. She was a member of the Hilltop Presbyterian Church, and enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. Linda is survived by her loving family, her Daddy, Sampson Johnson of Wewoka, Oklahoma, her sons; Phillip and Pam Ellis of Pawnee, Oklahoma, Kevin Ellis of Shawnee, Oklahoma; her daughters; Christy and Tim Sams  of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, Denea and  RB Burgess of Seminole, Oklahoma, Shannon and Donnie Smith of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, Holly Ellis, of Shawnee, Oklahoma and Andrea and  Jerome  Harrison of Johnson, Oklahoma, six brothers; Sonny and Ramona Johnson of Seminole, Oklahoma, Leo Jr. and Nita Cummings  of Newtown, North Dakota, Eddie and Brenda Johnson of Seminole, Oklahoma, Darrell and Joann Cummings of Bismarck, North Dakota, Mark Johnson of Wewoka, Oklahoma and Chuck  and Christie Johnson of Wewoka, Oklahoma, two sisters; her loving sister, Carolyn Williams of Wewoka, Oklahoma, her precious “Baby Sister” Tamina Downey of Maud, Oklahoma, grandchildren; Troyce Marshall, Hannah “Cookie” Marshall, Ramey “Sonny” Harrison ,Tristian “Chebon” Harrison , Drew Ellis, Kimberly Ellis, Caden  Shirey, Ciara Ellis, Mark and Andrea Ellis, Scott and Bailey Hill, Steven Hill, Amanda Hill, Alley and Jordon Delaware, Andrew Ellis, Nicholas Burgess, Desiree and Chris Wassana, Paternal Aunt Mrs. Betty Harjo of Konawa, Oklahoma, Tim Factor of Wolf, Oklahoma and B.T. Douglas of Seminole, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her loving mother, Lucille Johnson, maternal grandparents, Bessie and William Billy Harjo, maternal great grandparents Abey L. Harjo and Louisa Harjo, her aunt Ruth Jane and Roland Reschke, uncle Herbert “ Hap” Harjo, Mrs. Annie Ceaser Harjo, in whose home she was raised, her loving nephew J.R. Williams, brother-in-law Robert Downey, Jr., her paternal grandparents, Lilly Davis Cummings and Roger Wood Cummings, uncle Toby Cummings, brother Bruce Cummings, sister Pat Cummings  Fredrick, loving nephews Collin Cummings, Bruce Cummings, Aunt Mrs. Emma Cummings Foster, her loving aunt of the age of 98 years, Ellie Harjo and by loving husband Russell B. Ellis. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Friday, January 19, 2018 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Curtis Kinney and Paul Fixico officiating. Burial will follow at Harjo Family Cemetery, just south of the Wewoka Woods Conference Center, west of Wewoka, Oklahoma. Wake services will be held from 6 to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, January 18, 2018 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole. Casket bearers will be Troyce Marshall, Ramey Harrison, Tristian Harrison, Jeremy Talton, Jason Cummings, and Drew Ellis. Honorary bearers will be Robert Johnson, Jeremy Johnson, Nathanial Johnson, Shannon Johnson, Michael Melton, Kenny Williams, Chad Cummings, Seth Cummings and Collin Hunter.
