Lillie Willoughby

July 3, 1927 — June 16, 2014

Lillie Anna (McDonald) Willoughby, 86, went to be with her Lord on Monday, June 16, 2014. She was surrounded by loved ones in her home, just one half mile from the place she was born, the Twin Oak area of Seminole County, Oklahoma. Dr. Black delivered Lillie into this world on July 3, 1927 at home. She was the youngest of 8 children born to M.D. and Osa May (Hill) McDonald. She attended Twin Oak School and graduated from Varnum High School in 1945. While at Varnum, she was captain of the basketball team and was elected Activity Queen. She married the love of her life, Floyd Willoughby, on July 15, 1947; they enjoyed 59 years together until his death on July 22, 2004. Lillie worked at Seminole Wal-Mart as manager of the jewelry department until her retirement. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling, including several trips to Europe. One of her favorite memories was the night she spent in a castle in Scotland and visiting the Clan Donald Center on the Isle of Skye. She also enjoyed a transatlantic voyage on the Queen Mary II with her daughter Anna. Those that knew Lillie will remember the love she had for her granddaughters and her great grandchildren. She also loved anything purple, Blue Willow china, and sitting on the porch of her home, cup of coffee in hand, enjoying her yard filled with multicolored iris. Lillie was a faithful member of the Church of Christ at Little, Oklahoma. Lillie was preceded in death by her parents, husband; brothers; Roy, Burnard, James S. (Jim), Hoyt, and Leon McDonald, and Sister Nola (McDonald) Bull. She is survived by her daughter Anna Marie (Willoughby) Thompson of the home; two granddaughters, Lena Hearrell and husband Jim of Seminole, Oklahoma and Katie Rattan and husband Neil of Duncan, Oklahoma; seven great-grandchildren; Kaitlyn, Emily, and twins Taylor and Tyler Hearrell and Cami, Warren and Ryker Rattan; her brother, Bill McDonald of Seminole, Oklahoma; sister-in-law Dora ( Willoughby) Jacks of Moore, Oklahoma; a special niece, Opal ( Bull) Barber of Garber, Oklahoma and a host of nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.
