Lillian (Hale) Allen

May 22, 1926 — February 23, 2014

Lillian C. (Hale) Allen, 87 year old longtime Maud, Oklahoma resident passed from this life on Sunday, February 23, 2014 in Shawnee, Oklahoma.  She was born May 22, 1926 in Ada, Oklahoma to parents Fred B. Hale and Sally (Barrett) Hale. Lillian attended schools at Friona, Texas, Asher, Cook and Byars. On March 13, 1947 she married the love of her life Shan Charnel Allen.  The couple would move frequently due to Shan working for the pipeline.  The work took them to Texas, Kansas, New Mexico, Louisiana, Ohio and Michigan.  Retiring in 1972 the couple returned to live in Maud permanently.  Lillian never fully retired she went on to cook for Maud Public Schools.  Sadly Shan died on April 15, 1986. Lillian is a former member of the Rebekah Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary and the Senior Citizens’ Nutrition Center in Maud.  She was also a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Maud. Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Kay Bussey Merritt of Shawnee, Oklahoma and Kathy Jo Pinion of Maud, Oklahoma.  Lillian is also survived by three sisters, ten grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and a host of other family and dear friends. Lillian is preceded in death by her parents Fred and Sally Hale; her husband, Shan Allen (1986); one infant son, Charnel Ray Allen (1949); one daughter, Esther Owens (2000); two brothers and one sister. Funeral Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Trinity Baptist Church in Maud, Oklahoma.  Interment will follow at Cummings Cemetery in Maud, Oklahoma. Casket Bearers will be the Maud Fire Department. Services are under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home in Maud, Oklahoma.
