Longtime Seminole resident Lewis Franklin Cornelius passed away on November 22, 2006 at Mercy Health Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 86. rnrnHe was born on April 30, 1920 in Cogar, Oklahoma to Lewis Alexander and Mable Irene (Kelly) Cornelius. He married Clara Marie (Alexander) on September 26, 1939 in Chandler, Oklahoma.rnrnHe served in the United States Marine as a Private 1st Class Company I 3rd Battalion with the 45th Division 27 Marine on Iwo Jima Island during WWII. There he received a Purple Heart, bronze star for bravery and was decorated as a sharp shooter. He was discharged in 1945. rnrnHe worked for Wilson and Company in Oklahoma City for 25 years after that he retired from Tinker Air Force Base where he worked as a parts specialist. rnrn He is survived by his wife Clara Marie (Alexander) Cornelius of Seminole, daughter Frankie Hollon of Seminole, Oklahoma, two brothers: Elmer Cornelius of Lookeba, Oklahoma, Ralph Cornelius of Wannette, Oklahoma, six sisters: Hazel Metcalf of Marble City, Oklahoma, Alene Green of Moore, Oklahoma, Lillian Baker of Moore, Oklahoma, Lydia Bybee of Newcastle, Oklahoma, Cassie Fisher of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Helen Britton of Binger, Oklahoma. Seven grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren also survive him.rnrnHis parents, one daughter, Peggy Neu on September 3, 2006, one grandson, Damien John Anthony in 2002 and two sisters; Ila Lowery and sister Liddie who died as an infant precede him in death.rnrnFuneral Services will be held at 11:00am, on Saturday November 25, 2006 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev.
