Leroy Stokes

Leroy Stokes, age 83 and a resident of Konawa, Oklahoma passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at Golden Rule Senior Care Center in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 24th at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa, Oklahoma.  Burial will follow at Konawa Cemetery. Leroy was born on August 16, 1928 in Asher, Oklahoma to Tom Stokes and Velma (Moorer) Stokes.  He married Sharon Smith on December 21, 1973 in Asher.  He was of veteran of the Korean Conflict from 1949 until 1953.  Leroy made levels as a toolmaker for McLinburgh and Duncan and retired in 1994.  He was a member of Cross Timbers Church of Konawa. He is survived by seven nieces and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Velma Stokes; his wife, Sharon Stokes, and two sisters.
