Memorial Service for longtime Seminole resident, Leonard Tony Saffa, are scheduled for 10:00am, Tue. October 23, 2007 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Father Basil Keenan officiating. rnrnLeonard passed away on October 19, 2007 at Seminole Estates Nursing Center at the age of 86. He was born September 10, 1921 in Drumright, Oklahoma to Tony George Saffa and Slebeya ?Stella? (Saleba) Saffa. He moved to Seminole from Drumright in 1926. He attended Seminole schools, graduating in May of 1940.rnrnIn September 1940, he enlisted in the United States Army. He attended Officers? Candidate School and was commissioned to a 2nd Lt. in the Field of Artillery in 1943. He served overseas in France and Germany during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1950 with the rank of First Lieutenant. rnrnLeonard worked for the Veteran?s Administration for ten years and served as Superintendent of the Veteran?s Hospital in Ardmore for two years. He was also V.A. service officer for the eastern part of Oklahoma for several years. He was a long-time member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Seminole. He was an active member of the Seminole Lions Club and was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener. He also served as City Clerk of Seminole for three years.rnrnLeonard was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Richard T. Saffa and Edgar T. Saffa, two sisters, Mary T. Spencer and Josephine T.
