Leonard A. Copeland, 83, went home to be with his Lord and other family members on Monday, November 7, 2011 in Sherman, Texas. Leonard was a former longtime Seminole and Maud area resident who was born August 27, 1928 in Post Oak, Oklahoma to Alexander and Sefrona Catherine (Morse) Copeland. Leonard was a member of the Good Hope Church of Christ in Seminole and had worked for Kelsey Hayes Axle Division in Seminole in maintenance and prior to that he served as custodian for Maud High School and Oklahoma City Public Schools. Leonard is survived by his daughter Alice Wixon of Colbert, Oklahoma, three sons; Jack Copeland and wife Debbie of Sherman, Texas, Jerry Copeland and wife Elizabeth of Denison, Texas and Donnie Copeland and wife Diane of Denison, Texas;  13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lena Faye, son, Cecil Copeland, granddaughter Peggy, sister Rosa Lee Loveless, brother Elmer Copeland and 2 sisters Mary and Cora. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 11, 2011 at the Good Hope Church of Christ in Seminole and burial will follow at Cummings Cemetery in Maud, Oklahoma. Casket bearers will be Eugene Robertson, C.V. Robertson, Monty Cox, Ernie Smith, Ricky Copeland and John Jackson. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
