Leona Mae Johnson Moppin was born Dec. 24, 1939 in Wewoka, Oklahoma and died Dec. 23, 2022 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church at Wolf and attended there all her life and loved cats. Leona went to grade school at Wolf, Eufaula boarding school and was a Bowlegs high school graduate of 1960. She also was a graduate of Haskell Indian Jr. College in Lawrence, Kansas where she studied teaching and was an assistant teacher helping the young Indian children learn English. She also worked for ONHL Home Care Services as a care giver for several years. Having no children of her own, Leona loved her nieces and nephews and her cats. She loved to spend time with them at family gatherings and dinners. She spent her pastime going to Indian church singings and services when she could and loved to quilt with her niece or the ladies at OAP. Leona had a big heart and just loved helping others.
Preceding her in death were her father Willeya Johnson and mother Minnie Stewart Seeley. Her first husband John “Johnny” Wolf and husband Tom Moppin. Her sisters Edna Miller and Julia Johnson, brothers Londo Johnson, Leeman Johnson and Freeman Johnson, nephews Charles D. Miller, Billy (Yogi) Miller, Timothy Graham and Joseph Bardeleben and nieces Theresa Miller, Mammie Graham and Linda Johnson, many family members and friends. She is survived by her nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends and her cats Lottie, Colie and Sylvester.

Pallbearers are Joe Bardeleben, Damon Cravens, Jayce Cravens, Stevie Miller, Tony Miller and Mike Miller. Honorary pallbearers, Louis Carpitche, Jimmy Deathridge, Russell Gardner, Lewis Miller, Darrell Phillips and Hubert Johnson.
The funeral service is at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, December 30, 2022, at 10 A.M. with Pastors Robert Davis and Frank Moppin officiating. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
