Leon Brooks

Avery Leon Brooks, 71 Avery Leon Brooks, Seminole county resident, passed away Saturday, June 19, 2010 at his home at the age of 71 years. Leon, a long time resident of Maud, Oklahoma moved to Seminole12 years ago he was born November 2, 1938 at Maud, Oklahoma to parents William Lee and Beulah Belle (Choat) Brooks. Leon’s religion affiliation was non-denominational. He worked for OG&E as a dispatcher and retired 11years ago. He married Roberta Virginia (Lane) Brooks on August 2, 1958 in Los Angeles, California. Leon is survived by wife Roberta of the home, one son, Gary Leon Brooks and his wife Regina of Wewoka, Oklahoma; three daughters, Sherry Akins and her husband Tim, Karen Foster and her husband Carl and Leanne Brooks and friend Larry Lucas all of Seminole, Oklahoma. He is also survived by two brothers; Leroy Brooks and his wife Patricia of Victorville, California and Donald R. Brooks and his wife Betty of Maud, Oklahoma and one sister, Carol Johnson of Maud, Oklahoma. Leon is survived by eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, W. L. and Beulah Brooks; brother, James Ralph Brooks; grandson, Markcus Levi Brooks and granddaughter, Cameron Nicole Depasse. A Memorial service will be held for Leon at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 26, 2010 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.
