Lela Mae (Russell) Ainsworth

May 29, 1932 — August 2, 2016

Lela Mae (Russell) Ainsworth, age 84 and a long-time resident of Konawa, Oklahoma, passed away from this life, Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at her home. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 5, 2016 at the Assembly of God Church located at 205 W. 3rd in Konawa under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa.  Pastor, Steve Lowrance and Ricky McClaskey will officiate, and burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery.  Casket bearers are Larry Russell, Roy Riley, Ricky McClaskey, Jo Worthen, Barry Streetman, and Bryan Russell.  Honorary bearers are Tom Hendrix, C.L. Bounds, Paul Campbell, Jr., and Elvis Pete Argo. Lela was born May 29, 1932 in Caddo, Oklahoma to Benjamin Franklin Russell and Esta Mae (McClaskey) Russell.  She married W. J. “Jay” Ainsworth September 17, 1949 in Denison, Texas.  She was a member of the Assembly of God Church of Konawa, and she was a volunteer “Pink Lady” at Valley View Hospital of Ada, Oklahoma for seven years.  Lela loved her little dog, “Rocky”.  Lela took great pride in being an Avon Sales Representative for thirty-five years, working as an Election Clerk for twenty years, and serving on the Board at the Senior Citizen’s Center of Konawa and the Finance Committee.  She and her husband, Jay owned and operated a beef cattle ranch, and they enjoyed spending time together pursuing their love of breeding and racing horses. She is survived by daughters, Vickie Kennedy and husband, Bill, Janetta Jay Ainsworth, and Lisa Ainsworth, all of Konawa; one sister-in-law, Lou Russell of Durant, Oklahoma; one brother-in-law, Skeet McClaskey also of Durant, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Landon Kennedy of Sulphur, Oklahoma, and Jaymeson Kennedy of Ada, Oklahoma; her little dog and best friend, “Rocky” of the home; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends as well as special friends at the Konawa Senior Citizens Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Franklin and Esta Mae Russell; her husband, W. J. Ainsworth; two brothers, Leon and Wesley Russell; three sisters, Eva Russell, Frances Riley, and Geneva McClaskey.
