Lee Roy Rose , age 87 and a former resident of Seminole county, passed away at his home in Oklahoma City on August 9, 2022.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Monday, August 15, 2022 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa, Oklahoma. Rev. Wayne Childers will officiate, and burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery. Casket bearers are Michael Stephens, Kyle McIver, Gage Childers, Bruce Jordan, Doug Grady, Cory Winter, and Ronny Ensey. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 14th at the funeral home.
Lee Roy was born September 6, 1934 in Moyers, Oklahoma to Joe Rose and Elma (Bailey) Sipes. He served in the Army infantry from March 1953 until November, 1955. He married Lois Oneta Birdwell August 11, 1961 in Paris, Texas, and he was a truck driver for the sanitation department. He loved playing guitar, and he loved listening to Johnny Cash music. Lee Roy enjoyed taking care of his koi fish pond, and most of all, he loved being with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife (two days shy of their 61st anniversary) Lois Rose of the home; one son, Wayne Fisher and wife, Linda of Oklahoma City; four daughters, Gail Childers and husband, Clay of Oklahoma City, Brandy Rose of Oklahoma City, Patty Jordan and husband, Bruce of Del City, Oklahoma, and Sheila Hamlin of Harrah, Oklahoma; one brother, Paul Sipes and wife, Joan of Tuttle, Oklahoma; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Gary Fisher; three sisters, Alma Slagle, Kathren Blakely, and Betty Wood.
