Lee Vern Tolbert, 94, longtime Seminole/Maud resident passed quietly after a prolonged illness on July 25, 2014 in Midwest City, Oklahoma. Lee was born July 29, 1919 in Wellington, Kansas to Verna (Bullard) and Fred Tolbert. Lee moved to Oklahoma with his family at a young age and graduated from Seminole High School. He married Virginia C. Julian, “His Ginger”, in 1939. When World War II started he volunteered and although officially listed as 4F due to impaired vision, he was able after several attempts to enlist. He remained working in military intelligence here and abroad until he retired after twenty years. Lee then attended Cameron College and earned his Bachelors of Education degree. Until retiring a second time, he worked as a parole officer for the state of Oklahoma. After retiring again he remained active with interests in books and cameras; he bought and sold both at the Seminole Flea Market and kept a large collection in his home. He was a good man who loved his family, his cameras, books, football and the Democratic Party. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Rest In Peace.
