Lifelong Seminole resident L.D."Pat" Baker, Jr. passed away on Tuesday, January 04, 2011 in Shawnee, Oklahoma at the age of 78. He was born on May 7, 1932 in Seminole, Oklahoma to Leander Dewey Baker and Mary ( Duncan) Baker. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Seminole and a member of the American Rose Association; he had a love for growing roses. His passion was music and enjoyed playing the guitar. He served in the Air Force as a sergeant, during the Korean War. His first wife and mother of his children Dorothy Jean Baker who died August 20, 1999 preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of ten years, Alma Peggy Baker three daughters and sons-in-law: Connie and Joe Elmore of Seminole, Karrie and Kelly Joplin of Seminole and Carla and Mickey Sebourn of Seminole, son and daughter-in-law: Larry and Teresa Baker of Seminole. He also leaves to cherish his memories thirteen grandchildren 15 great grandchildren and four great grandchildren on the way. He is preceded in death by siblings Jack Baker, Jim Baker and June Woolfe. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Thursday, January 6, 2011 at the Highway Baptist Church with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating. Interment will follow at Little Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Logan (Boo Boo) Joplin, Dusty Joplin, Patrick Elmore, Larry Gordon Elmore, Cody Bennett, Brandon Biffle. Honorary bearers will be Andy Renegar, Chad Richards, Mike Garr, Shawn Gribble and Billy Green. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
