Lavern “Skinny” Jones, 91 year-old, life long Seminole resident passed from this life Thursday, June 7, 2012 in Seminole, Oklahoma. She was born March 11, 1921 in Seminole, Oklahoma to parents, Callie (Lane) Jordan and William “Bill” Jordan. Lavern married Rev. Jack Jones on August 17, 1940 in McAllen, Texas and together they served as Missionaries for several years. She worked at the “old” Seminole Hospital for many years, she was a homemaker, and a loving mother and grandmother, who loved to fish and dance. Survivors include one son, Jackie K. Jones of Seminole, Oklahoma, two daughters and sons-in-law, Cherlene and her husband Terry Yarbrough of Seminole, Oklahoma and Billie J. and her husband Andy Johnson of Seminole, Oklahoma, one special daughter, Nancy Gordon of Seminole, Oklahoma, one sister and brother-in-law, Wanda “Bunny” and her husband C.J. Langden of Orangevale, California, nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 16 great-great-grandchildren and a host of other family and dear friends. Lavern is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jack Jones who died November 13, 2000, three brothers, four sisters and by one granddaughter, Angie Paul who died in 2006. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 11, 2012 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole with Rev. Roy Robertson officiating. Interment will follow at Little Cemetery. Casket bearers will be: B.J. Kiser, Matthew Schuh, Danny Yarbrough, Steven Brown, Timothy R. Brown and Robert Hurt, Jr. Honorary bearers will be: Robert Hurt, Andy Johnson and Jackie A. Jones.
