Larry Stearns

Larry Stearns, 74, Shawnee resident died Wednesday, October 14, 2015 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Larry was born August 13, 1941 in Fresno, California to Arthur Brown and Ella Mae Mittie Brown. He was raised by his mother and father Emma Jean and William Stearns. Larry owned and operated a lawn maintenance company which he started in 1989. He also was a butcher and worked at Shawnee Meat Packing Company for over 10 years and also did roofing work. He loved bowling, watching western TV shows, and loved to water ski and being at the lake. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He attended the former First Missionary Baptist Church in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Larry married Emma Jean Brewer on March 4, 1971 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Larry is survived by his wife Emma Jean Stearns of the home in Shawnee, Oklahoma, step son, Carl Rogers of Shawnee, Oklahoma and step daughter Brenda Anderson and her husband Ron of Edmond, Oklahoma, six grandchildren Misti Bynum, Bryan Jackson, Nicole Rogers, Christia Rogers, Elisabeth Rogers and Lilly Rogers and eleven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his father that raised him, William Stearns, one brother Albert Stearns, and a son Ricky Dale Rogers. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Monday, October 19, 2015 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma with burial at Vamoosa Cemetery south of Seminole.
