Larry Dean Holder, 70 year old Maud, Oklahoma resident and former Seminole resident, passed from this life on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at the Veterans Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was born January 19, 1948 in Seminole, Oklahoma. Larry grew up in Seminole where he attended school before enlisting in the United States Army in 1968. During his 8 years of service in the Army, he earned the Vietnam Service Medal with a Silver Star, Marksman Badge with Automatic Rifle Bar, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Ribbon with Device, Republic of Vietnam Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal and Combat Engineer Medal. While serving in Vietnam Larry was one of the soldiers they called “Tunnel Rats”. These soldiers made sure there were no enemies or bombs hidden in the small tunnels that ran throughout Vietnam. On December 4, 1986 Larry married Judy Maxine Henshaw in Okemah, Oklahoma. Larry was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church in Seminole, Oklahoma. He enjoyed watching OU football, going to rodeos, fishing, chasing cows, taking care of small animals, even raising a small pet skunk. Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Judy Holder of the home in Maud, Oklahoma and by one daughter, Penny Holder of Florida; mother-in-law, Priscilla Henshaw, sister-in-law, Jacquetta Henshaw, brother-in-law, Ora Lee Henshaw and his wife Louise all of Okemah, Oklahoma. Larry is also survived by a host of other family and dear friends. Larry is preceded in death by his birth mother, Willie Mae Holder, by his uncle and aunt who raised him, Andrew “Little-Un” and Elaine (Holder) Coppedge, his step-father Jess “Bug” Coppedge, by one brother William “Butch” Henning and by one sister Joan Kelley. Graveside services with Military Honors will be held at Cummings Cemetery in Maud, Oklahoma (Located 2 miles west of Maud) at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 3, 2018 with Rev. Jerry Stacy and Rev. Mark Stacy officiating the service. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Dewey Short, Paul Lucy, Luther Anderson, Clarence Hopper, Nolan "Buddy" Dodson and Earnest Mayden.
