Larry David Cartwright, 71 year old Cromwell, Oklahoma resident, passed from this life on Sunday, December 9, 2018 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was born January 30, 1947 in Sacramento, California to parents Lelon Cartwright and Gladys Pearl (Knight) Cartwright. Larry attended John Marshall School in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma before joining the United States Army. During his service in the Army Larry earned the rank of SP4, he also earned, 4 Bronze Service Stars to Vietnam Service Medal, the Army Commendation medal and qualified as an Expert Marksman (Rifle). He did this while serving two tours in Vietnam. Larry was also very proud of his heritage, knowing that he came from a long list of military service men. Great-grandfathers serving in the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, the Mexican-American War and his father served in World War II. He was also proud to continue on and say that his three sons served in the United Sates Military and his daughter decided to serve the public as a R.N. (Registered Nurse). Larry married Vickie Lee Latimer on September 5, 1970 in the First Baptist Church in downtown Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Larry retired from Tinker Air Force Base after 30 years where he worked as a maintenance mechanic at the engine test center for jet motors. Larry loved spending time with his family, listening and playing music on his guitar. He was so mechanically inclined that he could fix anything that needed fixing. Larry leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 48 years, Vickie Lee (Latimer) Cartwright; sons, Brian David Cartwright of Cromwell, Oklahoma, Larry Todd Cartwright and his wife Jolene of Seminole, Oklahoma; daughter, Mary Larissa (Cartwright) Lamb and her husband Scott of Seminole, Oklahoma; and youngest son, Jeff Alan Cartwright and his wife Ashley of Shawnee, Oklahoma; two brothers, Richard Ray Cartwright and his wife Mary Lou of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Garry Wayne Cartwright of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John Latimer and his wife Paula of Lane, Oklahoma; three sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Marlene Day and her husband Nelson of Lane, Oklahoma, Linda Allen of Lane, Oklahoma, Helen Jacob and her husband Tim of Duncan, Oklahoma; 6 grandchildren, Alicia Lamb, Evan Lamb, Jillian Lamb, Vanessa Sage, Alyssa Cartwright and Makenna Cartwright; and a host of other family and friends. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Lelon and Gladys Cartwright, by one brother, Robert Lelon Cartwright, by one sister-in-law, Joann Cartwright, by one brother-in-law, Mark Allen, by his step-father, Fred Almond and by one nephew, Mark Cartwright. Memorial Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma with Military Honors.
