Lanora (Susie) Cheatwood, 88, longtime Seminole, Oklahoma resident, passed from this life, on Sunday, May 10, 2020 in Seminole, Oklahoma. Lanora was born March 21, 1932 in Evergreen, Colorado to her parents Martin R. Bishop and Avis Burcha (Mayes) Bishop. Lanora grew up in Prague, Oklahoma and spent the biggest portion of her life in Cromwell, Oklahoma. At the age of three days old, Lanora’s and her twin sister Elnora’s, mother passed due to childbirth complications. Her maternal grandmother, Parry Mayes and uncle, Orval Mayes raised her and her twin in Prague, Oklahoma.

Lanora was a seamstress at Big Yank Manufacturing in Wewoka, Oklahoma for several years, before retirement. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her world. She attended every sporting event she could make to see her grandchildren play. She was caring, funny, witty, and loved unconditionally. She loved reading, visiting family, yardwork, exercise, going to the casino with friends and watching movies. She was strong, devoted, and resilient in her faith, and was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church at Cromwell, Oklahoma.

Lanora is survived by three sons and daughters-in-laws, Keith and Rhonda Cheatwood of Cromwell, Oklahoma, Ronnie and Denise Cheatwood of Wewoka, Oklahoma and Nick and Denese Cheatwood of Wewoka, Oklahoma, her daughter Cindy and Mike Davis of Wewoka, Oklahoma, her grandchildren; Jeremy and his wife Shanna Cheatwood of Norman, Oklahoma, Larissa and her husband Larry Little of Cromwell, Oklahoma, Deidre and her husband Justin Sipes of Wewoka, Oklahoma, Ronnie and his wife Sierra Cheatwood of Indianola, Oklahoma, Ashley and her husband Brandon Bruner of Seminole, Oklahoma, Christopher and his wife Micah Cheatwood of Holdenville, Oklahoma, James and his wife Shanna Davis of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, Thomas and his wife Kayla Davis of Wewoka, Oklahoma, Zachary and his wife Kailyn Davis of Wewoka, Oklahoma, Cole and his wife Mallory Cheatwood of Wewoka, Oklahoma, Jordan and her husband Brannon Dobson of Wewoka, Oklahoma and Andrew Ott of Holdenville, Oklahoma and 31 great grandchildren.

Lanora was preceded in death by her parents; Martin and Avis Bishop, her husband of 28 years and father of her children; Billy Alton Cheatwood, twin sister; Elnora Fisher, sister; Francis Frederickson, brother; Clarence Bishop, her daughter; Kimberly Dawn Ott and  grandmother Parry Mayes and Uncle Orval Mayes.

The family will receive friends and family at a visitation, at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, on Friday, May 15, 2020 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, May 16, 2020 at the First Baptist Church in Cromwell, Oklahoma with Pastor Manuel Kishketon, and Andy Young assisting. Burial will follow at the Bearden Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Jeremy Cheatwood, James Davis, Thomas Davis, Zachary Davis, Cole Cheatwood, Ronnie Cheatwood, Christopher Cheatwood and Andrew Ott.

Honorary bearers will be Deidre Sipes, Ashley Cheatwood, Larissa Little and Jordan Dobson.

Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole is in charge of arrangements.
