Kiven Harjo, age 90, passed away June 18, 2020 at his home in Wewoka, Oklahoma. He was born December 23, 1929 in Seminole County to parents Choya Harjo and Susie Connor. Kiven served his country in the United States Army. He spent most of his life in the Vamoosa, Oklahoma area. He was a member of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma.
Kiven was self-employed as a small engine repairman. He enjoyed doing odd jobs for people and fixing things. He was the oldest ordained deacon and member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church.
Kiven never had any children of his own and is survived by his nieces; Mary Hulbutta of Wewoka, Oklahoma, Rebecca Graham of Wewoka, Oklahoma, Wany Harjo of Konawa, Oklahoma and Linda Hulbutta of Wewoka, Oklahoma and his nephew; George Tebe of Ardmore, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.
Kiven will be taken to his home at 705 Tamara Lane in Wewoka at noon on Saturday, June 20, 2020. On Monday, June 22, 2020, he will be taken to Cedar Creek Eufaula Church in Konawa, Oklahoma for the Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at the Seminole Nation National Veteran’s Cemetery in Seminole County. Dorsey Nero will officiate the services.
Casket bearers will be Anthony Hill, Warren Harjo, Leander Yellowfish, Choya Yellowfish, Jonah Hulbutta and Norman Hill. Honorary bearers will be Lewis Carpitche, Jerome Hill, Walter Coker, Hal Hulbutta and Eugene Harjo, Jr.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
