Erma Kathaleen “Kitty” Austin, 82 year-old Ardmore, Oklahoma resident and former Seminole, Oklahoma resident passed from this life on Sunday, May 13, 2012 at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City. She was born November 6, 1929 in Morrisville, Missouri to parents Florus Emory Phillips and Zula Mae (Erwin) Phillips. Kitty had worked for the Continental Baking Company “Wonder Bread” in McAlester, Oklahoma for 19 years before retiring in 1978. She married Lee Roy Austin on August 13, 1977 in Seminole, Oklahoma. Kitty was of the Protestant faith. She was also a member of the Northern Cherokee Tribe of Missouri and Arkansas. She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters and a son-in-law, Cherry and her husband Bill Tibbs, and Sena Wood all of Ardmore, Oklahoma; one sister, Mae Davis of SeaTac, Washington; one son-in-law, Luther Wooley of Ardmore, Oklahoma; 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and dear friends. Kitty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lee Roy Austin (June 13, 1988); one daughter, Cindy Wooley (2009); one great-grandson, Daylan McSwain (1990); one brother, Charley; and by two sisters, Nancy and Jackie. Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole, Oklahoma. Rev. Carl Whitfield will officiate the service.
